Ridley Earns ENGR 100 Section of the Year Award
Professor Aaron Ridley wins the ENGR 100 Section of the Year award teaching Rocket Science.
Professor Aaron Ridley, who teaches in the U-M Department of Climate and Space Sciences and Engineering, earned the ENGR 100 Section of the Year award for his course on ENGR 100.980 Rocket Science in 2024.
The ENGR 100 Section of the Year award recognizes faculty and teaching teams who do an exceptional job of providing a taste of what it is to be a practicing engineer by simulating a real-world engineering environment where teamwork, communication, professional values, and creativity are keys to success. The winners are nominated by current first-year students who are enrolled in a section of ENGR 100 and the nomination process is initiated entirely by students.
Students gave glowing feedback about Ridley’s teaching style and mentorship:
“I like to compare Professor Ridley to Adam Savage from the Mythbusters, because he knows exactly how to entertain young ambitious minds while also teaching them valuable information. Him and the entire team are extremely receptive, comprehending, and flexible when it comes to considering individual students’ needs, allowing for the perfect amount of breathing room needed to protect mental health.”
Congratulations, Dr. Ridley!
