Frank Marsik is honored for his contributions as an outstanding instructor, creating a preeminent educational experience for Michigan Engineering students.
Frank Marsik, Ph.D., a Lecturer IV and Associate Research Scientist at U-M Climate and Space, received the ADUE Instructor Award on May 10, 2024.
The award from the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education recognized his contributions as an outstanding instructor, creating a preeminent educational experience for Michigan Engineering students through his leadership of ENGR 110: Design Your Engineering Experience. The elective, first-year student course helps the students to explore the breadth of opportunities available to engineers in both their education and their career, concluding with the development of an educational plan for their time within Michigan Engineering.
Marsik has a passion for meteorology & climate, whether that means conducting research to expand our understanding of these topics or sharing his excitement for the topics through teaching and mentoring students. In addition to the course ENGR 110: Design Your Engineering Experience, he teaches courses on Weather Systems and Meteorological Analysis. For many years, he has led the National Science Foundation funded Program in Climate and Space Science Observation (PICASSO) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) at the U-M Department of Climate and Space.
Marsik engages his students in and outside of the classroom, and he is also active in service to the university. In addition to teaching, he serves as the CLASP Undergraduate Chair, Advisor for Undergraduate Meteorology and SUGS/MS Programs, and serves as the Faculty Director of First Year Student Engagement in the U-M College of Engineering.
Congratulations, Dr. Frank Marsik!
