Leadership Roles Announced at CLASP, College of Engineering

The University of Michigan Board of Regents votes to approve a new term for the department chair, as well as two new university positions.
The University of Michigan Board of Regents voted to establish two new academic administrative positions, including vice provosts for sustainability and climate action, and for undergraduate education. They also approved a new term for Chair Tuija I. Pulkkinen at the U-M Department of Climate and Space Sciences and Engineering.
The vice provost for sustainability and climate action will guide, oversee and advance U-M’s role as a leader in teaching and research related to sustainability and climate action. The vice provost for undergraduate education will be responsible for leading, overseeing and advancing continual improvements in education, including accreditation, for more than 32,000 undergraduate students in partnership with schools and colleges.
Professor Tuija Pulkkinen will serve as the chair of the U-M Department of Climate and Space effective Sept. 1, 2023, through May 31, 2025. This summer, the U-M College of Engineering also welcomes Interim Dean Steven L. Ceccio, who will serve his appointment effective June 1, 2023, until a new dean is named to the college.
