Prof. Steiner elected president of the AGU Atmospheric Sciences section
The prestigious position plays a major role in the formation of AGU science policy.
The Climate & Space department is very pleased to announce that Prof. Allison Steiner has been elected President of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Atmospheric Sciences section.
Among their many responsibilities, section presidents serve on the AGU council, which works on the formation of science policy, generate and deliberate science-related ideas, develop opportunities for collaboration among section members, and advise on science and member issues for AGU.
“I’m honored to be elected to this position,” said Steiner.
Prof. Steiner will serve as President-elect through 2022, then as President through 2024. She says that she doesn’t have any immediate plans for her role, but does have some ideas for the future.
“I’d like to start working on atmospheric science communication, supporting early career researchers, and supporting a better pipeline for historically excluded groups in atmospheric sciences.”
