I am a doctoral candidate working under Dr. Aaron Ridley. While obtaining a B.A. in Physics and minor in Astronomy from Case Western Reserve University, I worked for the High Energy Astrophysics Group (HEA) in the Department of Physics, where I tested the efficacy of time-tagging devices for cosmic ray events under Dr. Corbin Covault. I also conducted research on the diffuse gas around star-forming spiral galaxies as an NSF-funded REU student at the University of California, Santa Cruz, under Dr. J. X. Prochaska.
During the summer of 2018, I interned at Harris Corporation in Ft. Wayne, IN as a systems engineering intern, where I conducted requirements and risk management on the CrIS Instrument for the Joint Polar Satellite System, also performing an internal research project conducting trade studies on the efficacy of various using various wavelength bands on a scaled-down Fourier Transform Spectrometer.
Under Dr. Ridley, I study the dynamical impact of solar energy input into the thermosphere and ionosphere on the trajectory alterations and the probability of collision of LEO satellites, particularly within the context of geomagnetic storms. This research chiefly involves the usage of two-line element data and the Spacecraft Orbit Characterization Kit (SpOCK), and in-house orbital propagator developed by Dr. Charles Bussy-Virat, Joel Getchius, and Dr. Aaron Ridley.
My chief interests are in satellite orbital dynamics and thermospheric dynamics, particularly as it relates to space situational awareness, collision avoidance, and orbit determination.
I am broadly interested in the overlap between science and engineering, specifically as it relates to the design, building, and testing of spacecraft, and the development of space missions focused on atmospheric and near-Earth space environment research.
