Dr. Pulkkinen is a theoretical physicist with a deep interest the dynamics surrounding the Earth’s magnetosphere and its interaction with the solar wind. Her research examines the sequence of processes that begins on the solar surface, propagates with the solar wind through the interplanetary space to the Earth’s space environment, the magnetosphere, ionosphere, and middle atmosphere. Dr. Pulkinnen’s primary focus is the energy flow from the solar wind to the near-Earth space environment and the energy dissipation processes in the magnetosphere.
