Research

My research focuses on analyzing the lower atmospheric forcing on the Earth's ionosphere-thermosphere system. This involves characterizing the spatial and temporal variation of eddy diffusion coefficient and its effects on the upper atmosphere, and the effect of global warming on the thermospheric properties using GITM (Global Ionosphere Thermosphere Model) and observational data.

I have also worked in the VT SuperDARN group to understand the nature of Quasi Biennial Oscillation (QBO) in mid-latitude mesosphere and its relation to stratospheric equatorial QBO. This was made possible by computationally extracting the mesospheric wind velocities from SuperDARN meteor scatter data.
